Crestwood Hispanic Guitar Cuatro- San Juan
Crestwood Hispanic Guitar Cuatro- San Juan
The modern, fiddle-shaped Cuatro of Puerto Rico is a twentieth century incarnation of a vaguely similar 4-string instrument that originally descended from the renaissance guitars early Spanish colonists. With 10 steel strings in 5 courses, the cuatro is strummed or picked with a plectrum. As a melody instrument, its sound might be imagined as that of a full-voiced, baritone mandolin.
